What connecting Shopify actually does
- Read-only: read_orders
Order totals, discounts, taxes, refunds, cancellations and line items — the revenue side of contribution profit. - Read-only: read_all_orders
Order history older than 60 days. Without it Shopify silently returns only the last 60 days, so period comparisons and the 90-day initial import would be incomplete. Optional — ProfitSimple still works on a 60-day window. - Read-only: read_products
Product and variant titles and SKUs so costs can be attributed to the items that were actually sold. - Read-only: read_inventory
Cost per item. In Shopify's current API model the unit cost lives on InventoryItem.unitCost, which is only readable with read_inventory — it is the only way to read COGS from Shopify. No stock levels are stored.
Never requested: Customer names, email addresses, phone numbers and shipping addresses · Payment details or card data · Any write access — ProfitSimple can never change your store. You can disconnect at any time, and your data is used only to calculate your own profit numbers.
